Million, Billion, Trillion – große Zahlen auf Englisch
🎯 Understand and use large numbers correctly in English – in reports, presentations and meetings.
📊 Zahlentabelle Englisch – Deutsch Number names
| Zahl | Zehnerpotenz | English | Deutsch | Explanation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | 10³ | thousand | Tausend | a thousand |
| 1,000,000 | 10⁶ | million | Million | a thousand thousand |
| 1,000,000,000 | 10⁹ | billion | Milliarde | a thousand million |
| 1,000,000,000,000 | 10¹² | trillion | Billion | a million million |
| 1,000,000,000,000,000 | 10¹⁵ | quadrillion | Billiarde | a thousand trillion |
| 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 | 10¹⁸ | quintillion | Trillion | a million trillion |
| 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 | 10²¹ | sextillion | Trilliarde | a thousand quintillion |
Short scale vs long scale
✍️ Komma und Punkt Commas and decimal points
3.5% → Dezimalpunkt
“three point five per cent”
1.250.000 → Tausendertrennung mit Punkt
3,5 % → Dezimalkomma
„drei Komma fünf Prozent“
Achtung: 2.500 heißt auf Englisch „zwei Komma fünf“ (two point five) – nicht zweitausendfünfhundert!
🗣️ Große Zahlen sagen Saying large numbers
€2,500,000 → two and a half million euros / two point five million euros2,5 Millionen Euro
$1.2bn → one point two billion dollars1,2 Milliarden Dollar
3,450 → three thousand, four hundred and fifty (BrE mit and)dreitausendvierhundertfünfzig
five million euros – nicht five millionsNach einer Zahl kein Plural-s: *two hundred, three thousand, five million*
millions of people / billions of eurosNur ohne genaue Zahl mit -s und *of*: Millionen von Menschen
£15k = fifteen thousand pounds · £3m = three million · £2bn = two billion · $1tn = one trillionAbkürzungen im Business: k, m / mn, bn, tn
