📍 The story Die Geschichte

On Saturday morning, Anna takes Tom to the weekly market on the cathedral square – the Domplatz. It takes place every Wednesday and Saturday.

Farmers from the Münsterland sell vegetables, cheese, eggs and the famous Westphalian ham. Tom tastes a slice of pumpernickel, a dark rye bread.

Later they visit a fictional organic farm near Telgte, where farmer Maria Kötter explains how farming in the region is changing.

🗣️ Your turn Jetzt sind Sie dran

Describe a market, shop or regional speciality from your area to a visitor.

  • What is sold there? What is typical of your region?
  • Role-play: your partner is a market trader. Ask to taste something, ask the price and buy something.
  • Use grow (not plant) for farming, and taste / try (not probe)!
