📍 The story Die Geschichte

Three weeks later Anna is back in Münster. On Monday morning there's an email from Tom – and it's not a happy one.

The first 100 desks arrived in Manchester five days late, and twelve of them are damaged. Brightwell's new store opens on Saturday.

Anna calls Tom immediately. She knows that how you handle a complaint can make or break a business relationship.

⚠️ Typical mistakes Typische Fehler

❌ I want to excuse me for the delay.
✅ I'd like to apologise for the delay.
„Sich entschuldigen“ heißt apologise (BrE) bzw. apologize (AmE). Excuse me sagt man nur, um Aufmerksamkeit zu bekommen.
❌ We will control the problem.
✅ We will look into / check the problem.
Control heißt steuern oder beherrschen – ein falscher Freund. „Kontrollieren, prüfen“ = check, look into.
❌ The goods are broken (für Lieferschäden).
✅ The goods are damaged.
Bei Lieferschäden sagt man damaged. Broken klingt nach „ganz kaputt“.
